Rower Fort is a unique property for family holidays, reunions, special occasions and celebrations. Sleeping up to 16, Rower Fort stands out as a holiday cottage with a real difference.
Set within an area of outstanding natural beauty and enjoying outstanding panoramic views over the Blackdown Hills and south to the sea at Seaton and East Devon. Complete with hot tub, and a heated indoor swimming pool.
Dating back to 1827, Rower Fort is part stone-castellated folly tower and part thatched farmhouse, the farmhouse was formerly in the estate of Sir Francis Drake. The combination of a traditional thatched cottage and the Rapunzel-like folly tower is truly unique – eclectic in style, original and imaginative.
A hot tub with the best views in Devon
On top of the tower folly, within the battlements, is an open-air hot tub, the most remarkably sited hot tub you’ll ever come across, from which you can sit back and relax in seclusion to enjoy the countryside by day, and shooting stars at night.
A Moroccan influenced heated indoor swimming pool
Our indoor 10m length heated swimming pool with a roman end has finishings of the highest calibre. From our travels abroad to Marrakesh and its splendid Riyads, we have used – Moroccan arches with handmade glass mosaics, huge oak beams, sandstone arhitectural salvage from Jaiselmer and handworked brass ornamental fittings. It has a large decking area to relax in with showers using inlaid marble and travertine tiles, its like no other swimming pool you have seen! It is super efficient energy saving using the latest ground source heat pump technology and energy conservation techniques.
Rower Fort grounds & garden
With 12 acres of private land and space to roam, and for the children to play. A patio terrace sitting area with barbeque facilities, from which to enjoy wonderful views, and sometimes available a rare, working World War II Sherman tank on which to clamber!
For those pimms moments we have a hammock between some trees to chill out in!
